New clients will complete a confidential health history form which will be reviewed by the therapist and discussed with you. The therapist will use the information from your health history, any current pain or discomfort, and your preferences and reason for making the appointment to tailor the massage session to meet your needs. Sheet/towel draping is used during all sessions and only the area(s) of the body being worked on will be exposed unless it is otherwise specified that the client will remain clothed for certain treatments. High quality cream, oil, or lotion will be used as a skin lubricant during the massage session, please make your therapist aware of any allergies you have! After the session, the therapist will help you to determine how frequently you should receive massage therapy based on your feedback and their assessment, as well as your budget and schedule.
Most peoples’ bodies feel more loose and relaxed after a massage or bodywork session but it is also not uncommon to feel some muscle soreness. Usually post-massage soreness lasts about 24 hours if at all and feels similiar to after a good workout at the gym. Drinking plenty of water, gentle stretching, moist heat, and Epsom salt soaks will all help to avoid or soothe post-massage soreness. If you ever experience more serious pain, visible bruising (other than from cupping treatments), or discomfort that lasts longer than two days, please contact us.
Your health, safety, and comfort is our primary concern! TTMT implements measures for regular cleaning and disinfecting our office and treatment room(s). Our rooms are also equipped with HEPA air purifiers. If you are experiencing a cough, fever, or any other symptoms of sickness please contact us to reschedule your appointment with no penalty (please provide as much notice as possible). Face masks are no longer required but if you have health concerns or are considered high risk and would prefer that your therapist wear a face mask during the session, please request.
After a massage, it’s important to drink plenty of water to help your body recover and maximize the benefits of the treatment. During a massage, muscles are stimulated and toxins that have built up in the tissues—such as lactic acid—are released into the bloodstream. Drinking water afterward helps flush these waste products out of your system, preventing dehydration and reducing the chance of soreness or fatigue. Additionally, massage increases blood circulation and lymphatic flow, which can temporarily increase the body’s need for fluids. Rehydrating after your session supports kidney function, aids muscle recovery, and helps you feel refreshed and balanced. We always have water available!
We take clients during any stage of pregnancy as long as a doctor has not advised against massage. Massage therapy is not only safe but beneficial during pregnancy. When booking, pregnant clients can book any of the services from our menu (book customized therapeutic massage for regular prenatal massage). Aromatherapy is generally safe during pregnancy, however there are some essential oils that should be avoided. Be sure to inform your therapist you are pregnant and how many weeks along. Prenatal massage is performed while in a supine (face-up) inclined position, and side-lying position with pillows provided for comfort.
We do not currently have a massage room that can accommodate two massage tables but when our scheduling allows we can offer simultaneous or consecutive appointments. If you cannot find availability with our online booking please contact us for assistance.
